A celebration of life for, Barry Dale Travnicek, age 49, of Keeline, Wyoming, will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Niobrara County High School in Lusk at 10:00 am. Barry tipped his hat good-bye as he lost his battle to Behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (BvFTD) on Friday, August 3rd at the Douglas Care Center.
Barry was born October 13, 1968 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was the first son born to parents Dale and Sharon (Rising) Travnicek of Harrison, Nebraska.
He attended Sioux County High School in Harrison, Nebraska graduating in 1987. He played football, basketball, rodeoed and participated in Future Farmers of America. Following graduation, he went to LCCC to obtain his equine management degree and then began working for Melvin Grote in Sioux County, Nebraska. On November 25, 1995 Barry married Sara Thompson. They made their home on the 4J ranch south of Gillette until June of 2002 at which time they were able to buy a small place near Keeline, Wyoming where they are raising their children Colt William and Blake Dylan and God’s blessing Cody Dale.
An accomplished leatherman, Barry was capable of repairing most anything that friends and neighbors needed fixing. Barry also enjoyed breaking horses and working with the kids in the 4H horse program.
Barry is survived by his wife, Sara, sons Colt, Blake and Cody, his parents Dale and Sharon Travnicek,
sisters Lisa (Kent) Anders and Libby (Ben) Lamp and brothers Larry (Scott Alwin) and Tom (Heather) and his nephews and nieces.
Friends and family are asked to write down their favorite Barry story or best advice that Barry gave them. The stories will be compiled to create a memory book for Colt and Blake to read to their little brother Cody.
