Ardyth Marcene Rose Rice was born on May 13, 1937, in Gordon, Nebraska, to Ralph and Marian Rose. She passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, at Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs, Nebraska. A funeral service will be held at the Extension Community Chapel in Rushville, Nebraska, at 10:00 am on Friday, August 21, 2026. Interment will follow at the Extension Cemetery near Whiteclay, Nebraska. 

In her early years, Ardyth's family moved north of Rushville to the family farm on Larabee Creek. Ardyth attended Extension school and then Rushville High School. Ardyth loved working with horses and had a special place in her heart for them.

After high school, Ardyth married George Brownlow, and to this union 3 children were born: Jim, Joanne, and Robert. After this marriage dissolved, the family moved to Minnesota; there Ardyth met and married Lee Rice. To this union Richard was born.

Among Ardyth's many talents and loves were teaching, riding horses, art, reading western novels, crafting with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed just working from sunup to sundown. Ardyth was strong-willed and had a good sense of humor. Ardyth held several different jobs during her lifetime, the last being owner of the Fireside Inn Café in White Clay, Nebraska, for 19 ½ years.

Ardyth is survived by her children Jim (Rickta) Brownlow, Joanne (Lance) Lintt, Robert Brownlow, and Richard Rice; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ardyth is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marian Rose; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald (Phyllis) Rose, Ronald "Tom" (Ileen) Rose; grandsons Ronald Leach, Mathew Koncaba, great-grandbaby Lintt, and great-granddaughter Rylee Brownlow.
