Carole Kay Coon Dishong, 86, of Gordon, Nebraska, died on March 19, 2023 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh, Nebraska, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 15, 1936, in Albany, Nebraska. The daughter of the late Henry and Dorris Coon. She was the second of three siblings.

Carole graduated high school from Manville High School in 1954. She married Gary Benson, and they had six children. She went on to get her master's degree from Chadron State College. The next 41 years were spent dedicating her life to raising her children and teaching. She loved teaching and children loved her.

She later married Lester Dishong. They loved to fish, camp and travel. They were the perfect couple and enjoyed life together, up until the time of Les's passing in 2006.

Carole is survived by her six children: Craig (Cindy) Benson, Tracie (Roger) Rudloff, Renee Sasse, Martin (Karen) Benson, Dorris (Mike) Roelle, Denise (Kurt) Holscher, stepchildren Sandy Fricke and Carol Clark, two brothers and their wives, Ben (Della) Coon, and Tom (Chris) Coon, 24 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester, and her two step sons Gary and Greg.

Visitation will be held Friday March 24, from 4 to 6 pm at Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, Gordon, NE. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023, 10:00 am, at the First Presbyterian Church, Gordon, NE. Burial will be in the Gordon Cemetery.
