Obituary

Patrick J. Dooley passed away at the Monument Health Rapid City Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota, on August 22, 2026, after battling diabetes and numerous other health issues.

Patrick was born April 15, 1954, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, but spent the majority of his life in Wyoming. He held a wide range of jobs throughout his life, from traveling carnival worker with his sister, to rig hand in the oil field. However, the majority of his stories revolved around his career as a radio DJ for multiple radio stations across Wyoming and one in Chadron, Nebraska. For those who knew him, it was a perfect fit for his crisp, clean radio voice. Pat later worked as an editor for the Casper Journal for several years. His last job was with A.M.B.I Mailing and Shipping in Casper, Wyoming, where he worked as a data analyst from 1998 until his passing. Throughout the years, he also did some freelance computer programming.

He was a brilliant man who excelled in computer science and mathematics. He was passionate about computer and audio/video work and, in recent years, developed a strong interest in photography. He also had a strong interest in designing and making Sundials. Pat often spoke of his desire to create tutorial videos to help others navigate technology, mirroring his earlier service tutoring students while attending Central Wyoming College.

Patrick was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Dooley-Baker; his father, Donald Dooley; and his sister, Shawn Showers. He is survived by his brother, Joshua Dooley, and his niece, Dena Crowley.
