Ted Holman
May 30, 1948-Sept. 29, 2026
“Born to Cowboy, No Plan B”
In loving memory of Ted Holman, who unexpectedly passed away at home on September 29, 2026. His passing leaves a deeply felt absence in the life of his family.
Ted was born in Philadelphia, PA, on May 30, 1948, to Dr. Theodore and Jane Dawson Holman. Growing up, he attended school in Casper, WY, and at the St. John's Military Academy in Kansas. He also attended Casper College and Colorado State University, where he majored in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.
In 1972, he married Jana Lea Johnson. Ted went to work for several large Wyoming ranches before settling down in Van Tassell, where he went into a partnership with his father on a ranch that would become his forever home. Ted and Jana had two children, Skye and Hanes.
Ted was a strong Christian who continued a steadfast love for God and was firm in his beliefs. He also had a passion for knowledge and horses. He enjoyed studying acupuncture, homeopathic medicine, and shoeing horses.
Throughout the years, Ted fulfilled his childhood dream of being a cowboy and loved being on the ranch. He enjoyed riding cutting horses, rope horses, and even trained a barrel horse or two. Daily, he rode his horse and roped until the day he passed.
He is survived by his wife, Jana; his daughter Skye and family, Rusty and Randus Rae, who reside on the family ranch in Van Tassell; his son Hanes and family, MaryAlice, Gracie and Italy, who reside in Nevada and Texas; the Johnson Family of Bates Hole; and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Jane Holman; brother Tom; in-laws, Jack and Jean Johnson; and grandson, Howdy.
Ted was a private man who lived a quiet life. He was a man full of wisdom and advice, humor and sarcasm. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ted requested no services, but please remember him in prayer.
1 Thessalonians 4:11 "And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you."
