Willie Thomas Witt December 22,1943 – July 19, 2025 In sorrow we share the passing of Willie Witt who left this world at home on July 19, 2025 at the age of 81. Willie was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, and friend, known for his involvement in the church, humor, and unwavering ability to work hard and fix everything. Born on December 22, 1943, in Rushville, Nebraska, Willie lived a life filled with laughter, hard work, and faith. He dedicated his life to his faith in God, helping others, his business, Witt Heating and Cooling, and his family. Beyond his work, Willie had a passion for music recording, woodworking, leather craft, making stocks for his guns and frames for Sharon's art. His love for her extended beyond that of many couples. In the later years, he was a devoted care giver to Sharon and made sure she had all she needed after having back surgery and while struggling. Those shared later years demonstrated his selflessness and care for his beloved wife. Willie Witt is survived by his sons, Scott (Michelle) Witt of Portland, Oregon, Mark (Caroline) Kersey of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Brett (Mindy) Kersey of Gordon, Nebraska, and he was the grandfather to Andrew and Katie Witt, Conner (Taylor) Kersey, Tori (Audie)Kersey-Ramsey, Brady (Shayley) Kersey, Brandon Kersey, Breanna (Shawn) Kersey-Landreth, Cole Witt, Jayden (Trevor) Henry-McMahon, Nichole Witt, cousin Bentley (Pat) Witt, nephew Ray VanBriggle, Niece Debra Mow (VanBriggle), brother-in-law Orlan VanBriggle, brother-in-law, Jay (Phyllis) Hanson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Willie (Bill) Witt; his loving wife, Sharon; son, Jay Witt; as well as all of his siblings, grandparents and aunts and uncles and many friends. A celebration of Willie's life was held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Pier Funeral Home in Gordon, Nebraska, with a burial at the Amity Cemetery north of Rushville and a reception dinner at the Gordon American Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Stand in Grace Ministries at 401 West 9th St., Gordon, NE, 69343. He will be remembered for his "witty" sayings, his laugh, sense of humor, wiggling ears and his love of peanut butter. :)
