Garnet (Erlewine) Heckert

Garnet Heckert 81 of Van Tassell, Wyoming passed away early Wed. March 15, 2017 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, WY after a brief illness. Funeral services are March 20, 2017 at 2:00PM officiated by Mark Lohr at the Congregational Church in Lusk, WY, Burial will be at a later date.

Garnet was born October 8th 1935 to Glenn (Moon) Erlewine Iris (Lohr) Erlewine. Garnet was the 3rd child of the set of Erlewine Triplets born in Lusk, Wyoming. She graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1954. In 1962 Garnet married Donald Heckert of Van Tassell where she resided on the family ranch until the time of her death. Garnet enjoyed her family as well as the large extended family that she had. Garnet spent her early married life on the ranch being a devoted wife, mother and friend to the community. She was her happiest when she was waiting on and serving her family and friends. .

Garnet attended the Church of Christ and the Congregational Church. She was a the current president of the VFW Auxiliary #3511 of Lusk, WY she had held that position for approximately 10 yrs. She was an active member to the American Legion Unit #1 of Van Tassell. Garnet was a member of the Lusk Does Drove #64. She was a 4-H Leader for the Rollicking Ranchers for many years. She retired as Post Mistress of Van Tassell in 2014 after serving for 38yrs in that capacity. Garnet was an avid gardener, seamstress and knitter prior to her beginning her career with the postal department. In her younger years she enjoyed square dancing in Harrison, NE, boating and water skiing at Glendo Lake.

Survivors include her husband Donnie of Van Tassell, daughters Terry Davis and Donna Lloyd of Van Tassell, brother Ted Erlewine of Rapid City, SD., 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, and eldest sister Betty Golden, and her triplet sister Gladys and brother Glenn.
