Paul "Bud" Hahn Obituary

Paul Richard “Bud” Hahn, aged 69, of Houston, Texas, died of a traumatic brain injury on Thursday, February 23, 2023.

Paul was born on May 8, 1953, in Ogden, Utah, and grew up in Lusk, Wyoming.  He studied chemical engineering at the University of Wyoming and became a chemical engineer at Phillips 66, later ConocoPhillips, in 1976.  His job took him all over the world, including England, Norway, Australia, Greece, and South Korea, where he not only excelled in his career but also experienced different cultures and discovered new foods and traditions.

At age 23, Paul married Mary Louise Nelson.  They had three children: James, Robert, and Grethe.

Paul lived a full life, enjoying time spent with his family, traveling the world, working on home projects, and baking.  He retired after more than forty years in his field, and thereafter spent his time with his beloved grandchildren.

The church has been a big part of his life, from childhood.  Both his grandfathers were pastors in the WELS Lutheran Church.  Paul carried on the tradition by working in the church in various positions, including Elder and treasurer.  He loved his Lord, and has full faith in his eternal life with his Redeemer.

Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Hahn, his son and daughter-in-law, James and Melissa Hahn, their daughter Zerah Hahn, his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Christine Hahn, their children Elizabeth and Noah Hahn, and his daughter, Grethe Hahn.  He is also survived by three sisters and four brothers-in-law: Carol and Jack Ott, Judy and Joel Talbot, Sue and Randy Tucker, and Dan Wright.

Paul is predeceased by his parents, Sigmund and Ruth Hahn, and his sister, Barb Wright.
